Who we are
Sovnel is a food diary app developed and operated by Infocratic, an Ontario corporation ("Infocratic", "we", "us"). Infocratic is responsible for personal information under its control and has designated a privacy officer, who can be reached at contact@infocratic.io. This policy explains what information we collect, why, how we share and keep it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive basic account details from Google, such as your Google account identifier, name and email address.
- Food diary entries. Meals, foods, quantities and nutrition values you log.
- Inputs for AI parsing. Text you type, voice input converted to text, and photos you choose to submit so the app can estimate foods and nutrition.
- Goals and settings. Calorie and nutrient goals, units and app preferences.
- Basic diagnostics. Limited technical information, such as error and performance details, needed to keep the service working.
- Communications. Anything you send us when you contact us.
Why we use it
- To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
- To provide the diary, goals and AI estimates you ask for.
- To maintain, troubleshoot and improve the service.
- To respond to your requests and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for third party advertising.
Consent
By creating an account and using Sovnel, you consent to the collection and use described here. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account, subject to legal requirements. Some features cannot work without the related information.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us run Sovnel, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Google Sign-In, to authenticate you.
- AI service providers, to process the text, voice or photo inputs you submit and return nutrition estimates.
- Cloud hosting providers, to store and operate our service.
These providers must protect your information and use it only on our instructions. They may process information outside Canada, where it may be subject to local laws. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Retention and deletion
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Inputs sent for AI parsing are used to produce your estimate and are not kept by us after processing.
You can request deletion of your information at any time, and it will be deleted. Use Delete account in the app, or email contact@infocratic.io. See how to delete your account.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No system is completely secure.
Children
Sovnel is not directed to children and is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or ask questions about our practices, by emailing contact@infocratic.io. We may need to verify your identity. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date.
